Nova Scotia Remembers Memorial Race
April 18th 7:00AM
Walk or Run a 5k/10k/Half/Full Marathon in memory of those lives lost on April 18/19 2020. Races will be held in and around Truro and Colchester on April 18th 2021 or Virtually from your own course.
5k/10k Races follow Cobequid Trail ending at the Trail Head on Willow Street.
Marathon and Half-Marathon end at Victoria Park.
Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions no spectators will be allowed at the start lines or the finish lines. Spectators are welcome along the course route, please maintain 2m/6ft of social distance.
Race Kit includes Memorial T-shirt & Commemorative Medal (Shipping Extra for Virtual Participants)
Proceeds will support the Nova Scotia Remembers Legacy Society’s Memorial Building Fund that will establish a permanent memorial in memory of those 23 lives that were so unfairly taken from their families and our communities.
Nova Scotia Remembers Commemorative Walk
April 11th 11:00AM → April 18th 12:00PM
Join us throughout the week of April 11th to April 18th, as we pay tribute to the victims of the April massacre by taking a quiet walk through an identified trail at Victoria Park, Truro. Along the walk there will be memorial sites to honour each of the victims where you can pause, grieve and remember together. On Sunday, April 18th from 12:00 – 2:00pm, the walk will be reserved for victims’ family members only. The NS Remembers Team will be present at the park throughout these days to support you through this difficult time. As per usual, we ask that you abide by the COVID friendly Conduct at the time.
Nova Scotia Remembers Memorial Ceremony
April 18th 3:00PM
Join us as we commemorate the first anniversary of the tragic events of April 18/19 2020.
It will be Live streamed and filmed by CBC. Jeff Douglas of Mainstreet CBC will be the Master of Ceremonies and he will be joined by beloved musicians, spiritual teachers and political leaders.
The in-person seats will be reserved for victims’ family members with viewing sites set up at the bandstand at Victoria Park and in communities throughout the Colchester region.
We encourage you to reach out to your neighbors and watch this event together, as we all know that we’re stronger when we’re together.
